Most homeowners are unaware of common everyday electrical problems and hazards that can be prevented, or could be repaired, cost effectively before they become a major problem and expense. That is why Wilco is offering H.E.L.P.

H.E.L.P. is based on the following 10-point checklist when evaluating your home’s electrical system:

1. Assess the interior and exterior equipment of your home’s main electrical service.
2. Review the electrical grounding at your home to ensure the grounding system is working and installed properly.
3. Evaluate the main electrical service’s “surge protection” equipment, if any.
4. Evaluate and test G.F.I. (ground fault interrupting) receptacles and breakers to ensure they are working correctly.
5. Test and evaluate any “arc fault” breakers that may exist to ensure proper operation.
6. Evaluate and test existing smoke detector units throughout your home (whether they’re battery powered or hardwired).
7. Review the wiring “termination” methods used in wiring your home’s receptacles and wall switches.
8. Assess exposed wiring in open basement ceilings, if any, to determine if there are any safety concerns or issues.
9. Review any exposed mechanical equipment wiring (furnace, water heater, etc.) to ensure that they are properly wired and grounded/bonded as required to meet local electrical codes.
10. Evaluate “dryer” exhaust/duct system to verify proper installation and operation in avoiding LINT build-up, which can potentially be a “fire-hazard”.

Upon completion of this 10-point evaluation process, Wilco will forward a written report on any preventive maintenance recommendations or required repair estimates directly to homeowner for review.

At the customer’s request, Wilco will also forward written estimates for any requested upgrades, replacements or new installations for any and all of your electrical needs at no additional charge.
