Three Generations of Customer Service

Electricity has been running through the Brubaker family for over 72 years. In 1937 Elmer E. Brubaker, after learning the trade working for ten years mostly on rural electrification (bringing power from the city out to the farms and rural residences), started in the electrical business at our present location with one truck. His expertise included residential knob and tube wiring, new service installations, and agricultural farm wiring and service. Elmer built a loyal customer base and was well known for his friendly attitude, strong practical electrical knowledge, and his uncanny ability to test electricity by licking his fingers and touching live wires and being able to complete any task using a screw driver, pliers, hammer, and a 220 volt test bulb all located in his back pocket! Quality service and customer satisfaction was Elmer's primary goal. Through the late 1940's Elmer maintained a crew of 4-5 men and 3 trucks.

In 1951 Elmer was joined in the electrical business by his son Wilbur who continued with the development of a loyal customer base. The company grew to 4 trucks and 6 employees.

1960 brought the incorporation of Elmer, his son-in-law Paul Hollinger, and Wilbur as Brubaker Electric Inc. With 8-9 employees the corporation expanded the field work to include more light commercial customers. Jobs now included new residential home wiring, agricultural service and new installations, and small commercial projects. Customer satisfaction and value remained a priority during this era.

1972 saw the retirement of Elmer and the separation of Wilbur and Paul Hollinger as business partners with Wilbur continuing the family business as the sole proprietorship of Wilco Electrical Specialists. New house wiring, agricultural, and older home re-wiring comprised the bulk of work during this time. Wilbur's son Roger joined the company full time in 1979 and they incorporated in 1988 as Wilco Electric, Inc.

Through the word-of-mouth reputation of quality service and customer satisfaction the company continued to grow, expanding the scope of work to include municipal water and waste water projects, churches, warehouses, office buildings, and large agricultural complex construction projects.

Presently, Wilco employs over 30 team members with twenty service vehicles, two bucket trucks, a full inventory of parts, and separate Residential, Commercial, Wilcom Data and Wilco Green Energy departments to provide the same quality, customer service, and value that Elmer Brubaker started in the 1930's.

As the third generation, I am proud to continue this tradition and extend a special thank you to our loyal customers who helped to make it all possible.

Roger S. Brubaker
President
